Rupa is a photo editor for iPhone: retouch and reshape faces and bodies, change the background, add filters and templates, and use AI to enhance, restore or clean up photos. Here are answers to the most common questions.

Free edits and Rupa Plus

What is free?

All on-device tools are free forever: face and body retouch, one-tap auto glow, reshape, skin smoothing, background blur and removal, blur face, crop, light, filters, templates and the camera. No watermark, and every photo is saved at full resolution. On top of that, every iPhone gets 3 free cloud AI edits.

What counts as a cloud AI edit?

One finished result from HD Enhance, Restore old photo or Object remover (including Remove text). Rupa tells you how many edits you have left before you start.

Do the 3 free edits come back every month?

No. They are a one-time gift per iPhone, and reinstalling the app does not reset them. For more cloud edits, there is Rupa Plus.

What does Rupa Plus include?

100 cloud AI edits per month across all cloud tools, monthly or yearly. The price in your currency is shown in the app before you buy. No free trial, no weekly plan, no coins. The subscription renews automatically until you cancel.

Your count resets on the date shown in the app. Until then, all on-device tools keep working as usual.

A cloud edit failed. Did I lose an edit?

No. If an edit fails, is cancelled or is blocked by the content check, it is returned automatically. You only use an edit when you get a result.

Purchases

How do I restore my purchase?

Sign in with the Apple Account you used to subscribe, open Rupa and tap Restore Purchases in Settings or on the Rupa Plus screen. If Plus still doesn’t show, check that the subscription is active in Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions, then email us.

How do I cancel?

On your iPhone, go to Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions, choose the Rupa Plus subscription and tap Cancel Subscription, at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Rupa Plus stays active until the end of the paid period. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.

How do I get a refund?

Purchases are made through Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can’t refund purchases ourselves.

Privacy

Are my photos uploaded?

Only when you use a cloud AI tool and agree in the consent screen. Then the photo is sent as a smaller JPEG without location data, processed by our AI provider fal.ai and the model makers it uses (Bria AI for Object remover and Remove text, Google Gemini for AI change) and a content-safety partner, and deleted from Rupa’s servers within 24 hours. For AI change, your text is sent too, and Google may keep both for up to 55 days to prevent abuse. We have not yet been able to confirm how long Bria AI keeps Object remover photos. Rupa never uses your photos to train AI. All other tools work on your iPhone only. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

How do I delete my cloud data?

Open Settings > Delete my cloud data in Rupa, or email us. See Delete your data.

Can I use Rupa without the cloud?

Yes. Every on-device tool works without it. A photo is uploaded only after you tap a cloud tool and allow it in the one-line consent, which Rupa asks once. Settings > Delete my cloud data resets that answer, so Rupa asks again next time.

Using Rupa

Can I use Rupa inside the Photos app?

Yes. Open a photo in Photos, tap Edit, tap the “…” button and choose Rupa. Inside Photos you get the on-device tools only; cloud tools and purchases are in the Rupa app.

In what quality are my photos saved?

At full resolution, never downscaled, with no watermark. HEIC by default; you can switch to JPEG in Settings. The location is removed from saved photos.

What is the photo strip on my Lock Screen?

While a cloud edit is running, Rupa shows its progress as a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, so you can leave the app. It ends when the result is ready.
